One of the goals of The Fellowship Initiative is to broaden students’ awareness and interest in a wide range of career opportunities, including those that are international in scope.
What grade point average must a student have in order to be eligible for The Fellowship Initiative?
Student nominees must have earned a GPA of 77 (out of 100) or higher, at least a C+ grade average, or a minimum GPA of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale.

If I am accepted, how much will my work-load increase, outside my school work?
Fellows will participate in new and expanding opportunities that will help them to successfully graduate from colleges and universities and ultimately establish a professional career. Each of those steps demands commitment, discipline, and time on the part of the Fellow. Specific schedule details will be finalized and shared with finalists in Spring 2010.  For planning purposes, students should prepare to attend scheduled summer programming during select weeks in July and August 2010. Students should also prepare to attend school-year programming 3 Saturdays a month and after school sessions at least twice per month beginning in September 2010.

Will I be required to travel away from my home? If so, where, and for how long?
One of the goals of The Fellowship Initiative is to broaden students’ awareness and interest in a wide range of career opportunities, including those that are international in scope. As a result, TFI will invite its Fellows to attend programs alongside international students as early as Summer 2010. Students and families applying to the program should anticipate an opportunity for international travel which requires a valid US Passport.

Will I be required to pursue a career in any specific industry if I complete this fellowship?
No.  The fellowship is designed to help students gain the confidence, poise, and basic experiences needed to succeed in a 21st Century workplace.

Will The Fellowship Initiative include additional partners?
Looking ahead, The Fellowship Initiative hopes to expand its funding and program partnerships beyond business and finance to include engineering, technology, health science, as well as other growing industries and disciplines.  TFI is dedicated to developing a program model that is scalable and sustainable in the long term, with the support of partners who share the commitment of building a pipeline of young men from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.  TFI will continue to engage research-based program partners that represent proven youth development practices.  TFI will also look to recruit a broad base of foundations and corporations that together can leverage the collaborative efforts of best-in-class career development programs to achieve this goal.
